  2. RUN!!! LOOK ELSEWHERE! LOOK UP ALL REVIEWS AND BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU BEFORE EVEN THINKING ABOUT THIS COMPANY! THERE ARE SO MANY VALID COMPLAINTS. I WISH I HAD DONE BETTER RESEARCH....

My wife and I decided to kick off a kitchen remodel by starting with these doors, so we ordered them in the Spring of 2020. I went through the online configurator to input the size and width of the door we wanted. We wanted a standard 80" tall door to replace the existing standard sliding glass door because we do not have the room to go much higher (wish we did), but we did have approximately 6 inches above the 80 inch tall sliding door to allow for the head jamb/door mechanism.

WARNING: The online configurator does not describe or show you that the top part/head jamb of the door takes up ~4.5 inches and hence makes whatever measurement that you plug in that much smaller. When I put in what I thought was a standard door size of 80 inches, the door was actually ~75.5 inches tall (what they call clear opening), which does not meet code. No warnings to override. Nada.

I initially worked with a salesperson named Terri, who processed my online quote. We spoke and emailed back and forth multiple times. She never brought up the fact that I was attempting to order a ~$15k door that doesn't meet code. I worked with Terri throughout the entire process until the very end. For final payment, I worked with another salesperson named Teresa and now that I have significant issues, a customer service rep named Lakiesha. Teresa said this is an extremely common mistake/known issue with the Panoramic Doors online configurator and that she ALWAYS calls customers to tell them they are trying to order a door that is shorter than normal/doesn't meet code. I wish Teresa had been my salesperson, because Terri never mentioned this. I was thinking the whole time that I was ordering a standard door until I got word from my installer that he's seen orders at Panoramic Doors get screwed up time and time again, and encouraged me to take another look. Unfortunately, it was already too late. I ended up digging into all my emails to find that the only place that shows the head jamb measurements and threshold measurements is the contract. Measurements were not the numerous other emails that went back and forth. They weren't anywhere but the contract, which lulls you into thinking you're good to go.

  3. (Second Page)

I ended up signing the contract after speaking with Terri going over the many details. Again, she never brought up/emphasized the fact I was ordering a non-standard door. I trusted everything was right. I ended up signing the contract without catching the print that described that the door was too short. I honestly don't know if I would have caught it anyway because of the esoteric term used of "clear opening" instead of door height. Additionally, my initial quote had a door on each side of the system. Somehow, the second door was dropped from my initial quote and I didn't catch it. I have essentially ordered a door that doesn't meet code and would require you to walk ~17 feet out of your way to get out of the kitchen if the entire system is closed. I have no idea how the second door got dropped. I also spoke with Terri one last time before the order went to production to catch anything, and again, no warning that I was ordering a door which was too short and no mention of getting rid the second door. I also told her I wanted the flush track because we did not want the tripping hazard. This was not included in the order either.

I have ordered a number of interior and exterior doors over the years. The way this company does things is extremely different and confusing. In fact, I just ordered an 80 inch tall fiberglass Milgard exterior door and guess what: it's 80 inches tall and the rough opening is X to accommodate the head jamb. The customer service rep Lakiesha said (on a recorded line) that the sales staff should have pointed out the fact that this door was too short.

I have been working with Lakiesha from customer service for weeks now, to no avail. Teresa has been awesome, but cannot do anything for me. Now Lakiesha is not getting back to me, or she sends an email saying she's going to call but doesn't. I have told the company to not ship the doors until this issue is sorted out. I have paid in full and they, of course, do not want to do anything to help. I hope to come to a compromise, but I fear my options are starting to narrow to the point where everyone loses.

Bottom Line: The online configuration tool misled me into making an uninformed decision. The salesperson did not warn me of this known issue. Panoramic Doors does not accept any responsibility, despite a known/verbally acknowledged issue on recorded lines by both Teresa and Lakiesha. If you have a real issue, customer service is non-existent. We have wasted $15k. LOOK ELSEWHERE!!!
